Custom Care Convertible models easily convert to a powered surface with the simple addition of a control unit – an approach that can save significantly on the need for costly rentals.

- Safety Edge™ design helps minimize the risk of falls and bed entrapment, offers unmatched edge-of-bed stability, helps ensure safer transfers for patients and caregivers and gently encourages user toward center of bed.
- Innovative Star Chamber™ design is engineered with air support cylinders that are constantly filled with air – whether or not the surface is powered. Even in their non-powered state, the air cylinders’ head-to-foot orientation provides greater air displacement and better weight distribution than typical side-to-side cylinder configurations, and the cross-connected elasticized reservoirs absorb peaks to mimic powered flotation.
- Shear Transfer Zone® Cover offers an additional measure of shearing protection provided by the silicone-coated, shear minimizing fabric bands located on the underside of its bi-directional stretch cover. This Shear Transfer Zone design helps prevent heels, sacrum, and scapula from “digging into" surface, “glide" user back to original position following HOB elevation, protect against damaging effects of micro shear, macro shear, and rotational (pivot-induced) shear, and provide patient stability by transferring shear to more shear-tolerant anchor points.
- Geo-Matt® segmented top surface layer reduces shear to underlying tissues by featuring more than 800 individually-articulating cells to redistributes pressure and reduce heat and skin moisture buildup.
- The cover is made with Span’s superior LifeSpan® fabric. LifeSpan® is extremely durable and cleanable and delivers outstanding resistance to chemical breakdown caused by bleach and other harsh disinfectants.
- Recommended for use in treating Stage I to IV pressure ulcers.
- Optional S6500 Powered control unit can also be connected to Custom Care Convertible mattress to add alternating pressure, lateral rotation, and powered pressure redistribution (will not provide low air loss).
